Discussion with Jacques Séguin
Parkinson Montreal-Laval is pleased to invite you to a discussion with Jacques Séguin on Tuesday, May 25, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. He is a man who is passionate, inspiring and an excellent communicator. He will share his contagious enthusiasm and present the benefits of physical activity as well as his tools for coping with the disease and adapting to different treatments. He will also discuss the crucial role of his allies (his family and health specialists) and explain his philosophy of life: “You are the sum of your passions, your determination and your hard work! “.
Diagnosed at the age of 51, Jacques Séguin has been living with Parkinson’s for almost 20 years. After a successful career in the field of education, he uses his talents as a trainer and educator to motivate people living with Parkinson’s to convert the disease into opportunities. For this, he created his own website and made web series.
Passionate about physical activities and more particularly racquetball, he demonstrated that with perseverance, he could practice this activity several times a week and thus observe a significant reduction of his symptoms. He has introduced many Parkinson’s patients to this intense sport. He has also practiced adapted boxing and a multitude of other physical activities and has participated in several studies on movement, including one in collaboration with the University of Ottawa. You can see him in action in the beautiful documentary Vivre Vieux which can be viewed on the Radio-Canada website.
