PRACTICE YOUR VOICE
Lenght: 1 hour
Location: Centre Belgo
Practice Your Voice is a fun vocal practice workshop for people living with Parkinson’s disease. It is organized by Parkinson Montréal Laval, in collaboration with Vocavie.
Led by Ingrid Verduyckt, a speech-language pathology professor, with the support of speech-language pathology students, the workshop offers 1.5-hour sessions combining exploration, practice, and reflection on voice and speech.
Each session begins with a vocal warm-up, followed by a variety of activities that engage the voice and speech at different levels of complexity (vocal exercises, text recitation, dialogue improvisation, singing).
The workshop focuses on the joy of communication, while aiming to better understand how speech works, to experiment with different ways of using it, and to identify strategies to support its long-term maintenance.
The workshop also incorporates educational elements on available approaches and services to equip participants beyond the sessions.
Finally, it is based on a dynamic of exchange, where the experiential knowledge of the participants and the knowledge of the people in training meet and mutually enrich each other.
